- Spain now has almost 3,000 infected people and the death toll is around one hundred.
- Fever, tiredness and dry cough are the most common symptoms of the virus.
Madrid, March 12, 2020. The WHO, the World Health Organization, has declared the new coronavirus outbreak a pandemic. The number of infected people and its global spread make the virus a global health problem .
Atenzia supports the recommendations made in recent hours by government and health authorities, urging calm but also emphasizing the importance of taking appropriate measures for both users and caregivers.
The COVID-19 coronavirus is an infectious disease that particularly affects older people or those with underlying health conditions. Some of its most characteristic symptoms include a dry cough, fever, or fatigue, and respiratory problems may occur in more severe cases.
Given this situation, Atenzia has provided its more than 140,000 users with a series of recommendations to prevent the spread of the disease , in addition to those published by the Ministry of Health . Some of these precautions include:
- If you suffer from cough, fever, difficulty or respiratory infection, you should press the SOS button or call 062/112 without going to any health center.
- When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with your elbow or disposable tissues.
- People with pre-existing medical conditions should avoid crowded places.
- Perform good hand hygiene carefully and frequently and use single-use paper towels for drying.
- The use of masks is not required if the person is healthy , their use is only recommended if symptoms of the virus are present.
Among the measures adopted by the organization, a protocol has also been developed for caregivers to care for people suspected or confirmed to have contracted COVID-19, including:
- Try to have only one person provide care to the patient.
- The caregiver must take extreme precautionary measures by wearing a mask, gloves, protective clothing, and performing proper hand hygiene.
- Maintain, whenever possible, at least 1 meter distance from the sick person
- The caregiver should not have risk factors for complications such as chronic heart, lung, or kidney diseases, immunosuppression, diabetes, oncological processes, or pregnancy.
